The American Heritage Charter School seeks a positive, team-oriented K-2 music paraprofessional. Located on the west side of Idaho Falls, American Heritage offers a free, rigorous and patriotic education in a friendly, small, and rural school setting.
Our mission is to create educated and patriotic leaders. Our students adhere to a strict code of conduct that includes a dress code. Our teachers use the Core Knowledge Curriculum, Math in Focus, and Shurley English to give our students a broad and well-rounded education. In addition, our students study a unique American Heritage curriculum that teaches character through Cowboy Ethics and Great Expectations and encourages good citizenship through patriotic service.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Essential Job Duties -Works with students on their music skills -Teach students songs for their Holiday Program and Patriotic Program -Helps compile and maintain reports and files regarding student performance -Confers and closely works with the music teacher -Participates in meetings, conferences, workshops, etc., as requested by the Principal -Systematically involves parents in the program. Keeps parents informed of their students progress. -Maintains a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning. -Deals with students, parents and staff in a positive encouraging manner. -Knows and follows school policy and chain of command. -Acts ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment. -Performs such duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form, and effective writing and verbal communication skills -Ability to assist students with their music skills
- Ability to apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g. Word, Excel).
-Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others. -Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work. -Ability to go up and down stairs, be on your feet for extended periods of time, and lift up to 30 lbs.
Qualifications Profile: High school diploma or equivalent 2 years of college (32 credits) or Ability to pass the paraprofessional praxis.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
