This position is anticipated to be 5th Grade Dual Language Spanish Immersion Classroom Teacher at Rendezvous Upper Elementary, subject to the needs of the district.

JOB TITLE: 5th Grade Dual Language Immersion Classroom Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements.
Bachelors in Elementary Education, Spanish Education, Spanish as a Second Language, or similar or a foreign degree equivalent.
All subjects (K-8), or Spanish (6-12), or TESOL endorsement preferred.
Demonstrated successful teaching experience.
Strong background in curriculum and the Idaho Core Standards
Minimum Oral Spanish Proficiency at the Advanced Mid-level in the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI); or demonstrate native Spanish proficiency.
Knowledge of Utah DLI instructional strategies, pedagogies and protocols preferred.
Ability to enroll in alternative routes for Idaho licensure process.
Fluent in English
Foreign degrees are certified and evaluated by WES demonstrating equivalent to a U.S. degree.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

SUPERVISES:
1. Students during the school day and at other activities as assigned.
2. Volunteers, student aides, and/or others assigned to assist the teacher.
JOB GOALS:
To facilitate biliteracy and bilingualism skills in students by providing instruction in the Spanish language.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare for assigned classes
Teach content and curriculum (math, Spanish language arts, writing, and reading) in Spanish.
Create a learning environment where Spanish is the primary language of instruction.
Design lessons with an appropriate level of difficulty which provide content in a logical and sequential manner
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the classroom and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs
Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Implement the Idaho Core Standards, as well as the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives, in lesson plans, classroom instruction, unit planning, and assessments
Devise written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking as well as the reproduction of facts, and use them to evaluate student progress on a regular basis
Prepare students academically for all district, state, and federal testing
Display command of the subject matter
Budget class time effectively
Demonstrates interpersonal skills by:

encouraging student independence and creativity,
modeling a positive self-concept and attitude.
Demonstrates professional responsibilities by:
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules
Maintain accurate and complete records as required by federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy
Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development by attendance at professional meetings, membership in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals and other publications
Adhere to The Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession adopted by the Professional Standards Commission and the State Board of Education
Seek assistance should emergencies arise
Represent the school district in a positive manner
Know and follow school district policy and chain of command
Performs all other duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of a teacher, the Idaho Code of Ethics, and the negotiated contract.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Contract period of 190 days for teachers, unless determined otherwise by the school board.
EVALUATION:
To be conducted by the district administrator in accordance with the guidelines specified in the evaluation policy.
