As part of our commitment to student success, we are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Academic Advisor to join our team.Job Description: As part of the Registrar and Special Education Support at Richard McKenna Online Charter High School, you will be crucial in working with our online students throughout their academic journey. You will serve as a mentor, guide, and resource for students, helping them navigate their online education experience and achieve their academic and career aspirations. You will also assist the special education teacher in monitoring student progress and providing additional support in answering questions, keeping track of records, and monitoring data.● Provide personalized academic guidance and support to IEP, 504 and Monitor students, helping them set educational goals and create a plan for success.● Oversee the IEP, 504 and Monitor student admissions and graduation process● Request, organize, and manage IEP, 504 and Monitor student records● Maintain accurate physical and computerized IEP, 504 and Monitor student records● Provide excellent customer service● Verify residency, eligibly, credit level status and enter transcripts● Greet visitors with a positive, helpful attitude● Answer phones in a professional manner and route calls as necessary● Assist parents/students in navigating the school website and learning management portal● Ensure records are updated with new grades● Maintain updated reports on the IEP, 504 and Monitor students’ progress● Monitor IEP, 504 and Monitor student progress and academic performance, identifying early warning signs and implementing interventions when necessary to help students stay on track● Transfer records and verify enrollment for exiting IEP, 504 and Monitor students● Process and transmit requests for academic transcripts● Prepare documents such as Letters of Recommendation, Verification of Compliance certificates of Eligibility, Enrollment Verifications, etc.● Maintain student confidentiality and student privacy per FERPA● Identify and record students’ strengths and weaknesses● Connect students with resources under the direction of the special education teacher● Stay up-to-date on school policies, procedures, and academic requirements to provide accurate information and guidance to students● Other duties as assigned by the special education teacher
