IDVA Standards:
• Instruction: Plan and teach engaging lessons that are aligned to the K12 curriculum and state standards.

• Maintain a home office in which interruptions are kept to a minimum to maintain professionalism in terms of job responsibilities

Substitute Teacher Expectations:
 Academics
o Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate in the session
o Assign classwork as necessary, according to lesson plans
o Create lesson plans, grade classwork, and tests and attend parent-teacher conferences as needed or assigned.

 Instruction
o Identify, unpack, and teach essential standards
o Track attendance, class data, and set recordings
o Respond to live class absences with phone calls and email communication
o Provide general education, intervention, and enrichment instruction
o Modify teaching styles to fit learning styles of various students
o Maintain a well-managed classroom and a positive learning environment


 School Culture
o Communicate with families to offer engagement and academic support (document conversations)
o Promote positive, consistent, and effective communication by responding to phone calls and emails from colleagues and families/students within 24 hours.

 Professional Development/Training
o Complete all required K12 new online teacher training
o Training will be provided by the teacher you are subbing for.

 Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Ability to pass required background check

Certificates and Licenses: Teaching License

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICIATIONS:
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Strong leadership skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for communicating effectively with parents/guardians, students, and school staff.
• Great organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel; general computer/web proficiency; familiarity entering/retrieving information in a database
• Committed to increasing customer satisfaction, assumes responsibility for solving customer problems when appropriate, handles customer questions and complaints, communicates with customers, handles service problems politely and efficiently, always available for customers, follows procedure to solve customer problems, understands company products and services, maintains pleasant and professional image

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Professional experience
• Familiarity with local/state/federal laws and reporting pertaining to Idaho
• Experience with distance learning
• Customer service experience
• Experience in a charter school environment
• Previous experience in a school setting

• This is a home- based position
• Must be a resident of the state of Idaho and currently reside in the state.

Compensation: 4 hours or less daily: $60/day. More than 4 hours daily: $100/day.
