About this job

K-5 STEM/Computer Science and GT Instructor

“To raise new questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks a real advance in science.” -Albert Einstein

Why K-5 STEM/Computer Science and GT?
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and Computer Science learning incorporate and encourage problem solving, creative and critical thinking, curiosity, decision-making, persistence, acceptance of failure, real-world applications, creativity, and more. It has been stated that more than 80% of jobs over the next decade will require STEM skills, and preparing our students for the future is key.

Through STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM), and Computer Science, our identified GT students will have additional learning opportunities for enrichment and extensions.. This will include hands-on experiences, as well as opportunities to see connections to possible future careers.

Embedding elementary GT services back into the school day has been the priority all year, and this arrangement will allow each school to do this, serving intellectually gifted students in grades 2-5 and academically gifted students in grades 3-5.(It should be noted that differentiation for ELA and math, including enrichment and extension, will be provided by classroom teachers, answering question 4 of the PLC process.)
