The School Nurse will be responsible for providing medical assistance to school-age students
and they complete multiple tasks each day, from assessing minor injuries to requesting
emergency services. Specific School Nurse job duties include but are not limited to:
• Conducting student hearing and vision screenings
• Educating students on hygiene and safety practices
• Dispensing prescription medications to students per physician instructions
• Verifying vaccination records
• Taking students’ temperatures when fever is suspected
• Writing any necessary Medical Plans and Seizure Action Plans
• Treating minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes and bruises
• Contacting parents when students are ill or injured
