Salmon School District 291 is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a
SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
This is a FULL-TIME benefitted position for the 2024- 2025 school year. The position
includes Competitive salary, health insurance, PERSI retirement, and many voluntary
plan options. Salary depends on education and years of experience.
QUALIFICATIONS & CANDIDATE EXPECTATIONS
The School Board, staff and community of Salmon seek candidates with strong
leadership skills, highly qualified, and fully endorsed as a Superintendent. The candidate
must have the background skills and abilities essential for excellence in educational
leadership. The superintendent will be
Highly involved and visible in the schools and community. Must work well with
students, staff, board members and public.
Responsive to the board and school community and will articulate a clear
commitment to an educational process which is collaborative, consistent,
visionary, goal oriented and outcome-based.
Familiarity with federal programs and deadlines. Must have experience and
proven success in the areas of school finance, school curriculum and union
contract negotiations.
Must possess strong communication skills, written and oral.

THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
The school district has a current enrollment of
approximately 500 students in grades K-12. The
annual General Fund budget is 9.9 million dollars.
About 45% of the students are bussed to school
daily.
THE COMMUNITY
Salmon, Idaho is a rural community with approximately 3,000 citizens living within the
city limits. The famous Salmon “River of No Return” runs through it. Salmon is located
on the Lewis and Clark “Scenic Byway” where state Highway 28 and 93 intersect.
Salmon is approximately 140 miles to the south of Missoula, Montana and 160 miles to
the north of Idaho Falls, Idaho. The climate is semi-arid with summer temperatures in
the 80 to 90 degree range, while winter temperatures average in the 20 degree range.
Outdoor activities such as white water rafting, kayaking, sight-seeing, wildlife viewing,
alpine and cross-country skiing, camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, and equestrian trail
riding are some of the activities that draw many visitors to Salmon.
